I heard that my phone no longer work. What does that mean?

In June of 2020, Boost Mobile transitioned to the 5G/4G Network, with better coverage and faster speeds.

The 3G network shutdown was completed on May 31, 2022. If you have recently received messages from Boot Mobile asking you to upgrade, you may still be on the retired 3G Nationwide Network, and your current phone no longer works. You must upgrade immediately to Boost Mobile's faster 5G/4G network in order to RESUME ALL SERVICE, including voice, text, data usage, and even 911 calls.

What are the benefits of the faster 5G/4G Network?

Our faster 5G/4G Network offers a stronger signal, more coverage, and faster speeds:

  • Talk & Surf - Make voice calls, use data-driven apps, and surf the web, all at the same time! For example, now you can talk on the phone while you use an app like Google Maps!
  • Stronger Signal and More Coverage - The faster 5G/4G Network signal is stronger and more reliable.
  • Faster Speeds - Experience faster upload and download speeds.

How do I know which network I’m on?

To find out which network you’re on, log in to My Account and click “View Coverage” on your dashboard:

  • If it opens the Nationwide Network Coverage Map , then you’re on the old 3G Nationwide Network. The 3G network shutdown was completed on May 31, 2022 and your phone will no longer work.
  • Please go to your local Boost Mobile store to determine how you can upgrade immediately to Boost Mobile's faster 5G/4G network in order to RESUME ALL SERVICE, including voice, text, data usage, and even 911 calls. Depending on your current device, you will need to either replace your SIM card at no cost, or upgrade your phone. Restrictions apply.
  • If it opens the Expanded Data Network Coverage Map, congratulations, you’re already on our faster 5G/4G network so you are all set.

You may also visit your Boost Mobile store or call us at 866-402-7366 to confirm your current network.

How do I move to the faster 5G/4G Network?

You will need either a new SIM card or a new phone. Head over to your Boost Mobile store where they are ready to help get you switched over to the 5G/4G Expanded Data Network today. Click here to find your nearest Boost Mobile store.

What if I need a new SIM card to move to the faster 5G/4G Network?

Getting a new SIM card is actually really easy and FREE. Your Boost Mobile representative will be happy to install the new SIM card for you. If you don’t have time to get to a Boost Mobile store, or aren’t going out much these days, call us at 866-402-7366 and we’ll mail one to you with instructions on how to swap it out.

What if I need a new phone to move to the faster 5G/4G Network?

Head to your local Boost Mobile store today to see if you qualify for exclusive new phone offers, and a representative will help you find a new phone that’s perfect for you! You will certainly enjoy using all of the fun features on your new phone while surfing on our faster 5G/4G Network.

What if I’m already on the faster 5G/4G Network?

Congratulations, you are all set. No additional action is necessary.

Can I stay on my current plan?

A plan change is required in order to upgrade to our 5G/4G Network with better coverage and faster speeds. The majority of our customer plans will be offered an equal or better plan at the same price you are paying today, and your account can be updated automatically. Your monthly payment date will also remain the same.

We do have a few older plans on the 3G network that will not be available on our 5G/4G Expanded Data Network. Rest assured, your Boost Mobile representative will be able to help you pick the right plan for you based on your needs and budget, and get you transferred easily over to the faster 5G/4G Network.

Will my Add-On services be offered on the faster 5G/4G Network?

Yes, once you upgrade to our faster 5G/4G Network, you will be able to select all of your favorite add-on services. Our list of add-on services available on the 5G/4G Network can be found here.

Please note that Call Screener Plus will not be available on our 5G/4G Network, but will be replaced by Call Screener Premium.

Will my monthly payment date remain the same with my move to the faster 5G/4G Network?

For the majority of our customers the answer is “YES”, you will be moved to a similar price plan on the 5G/4G Network and keep your existing monthly plan payment date.

*For a subset of CDMA customers whose current price plan is not available on the 5G/4G Network, a new plan choice will be necessary. This may result in a change to your monthly payment date.

What will happen to the existing balance on my account?

Don’t worry, your existing balances will transfer when you move to the faster 5G/4G Network.

Will my Auto Pay setup and payment methods on file transfer to the faster 5G/4G Network?

Yes, these will be transferred when you move to the faster 5G/4G Network.

How long do I have to transition to the faster 5G/4G Network?
